Children with influenza documented by testing may be treated with an influenza antiviral, with more rapid resolution of symptoms possible, allowing for earlier return to school, per AAP policy. Diagnosis of some other infections that share symptoms with SARS-CoV-2 (eg, influenza) may be clinically actionable, and coinfections may occur. ![]() Decisions regarding testing for other pathogens should be informed by local epidemiology, including current levels of community transmission. Testing for SARS-CoV-2 infection should be guided by clinician judgment in accordance with the prevalence of COVID-19 in a given community.
